Making it a family affair...welcome Gemma Tinney!

Here at Horseland we’re excited to announce our newest sponsored rider…We decided it was time to make it a family affair and welcome Gemma Tinney onto the team!

While Gemma may be the daughter of Horseland sponsored rider and dual Olympic Medalist Stuart, she is a riding talent to be reckoned with in her own right on the Eventing scene. This year she took on her first CIC3* at the national championships in Camden, not only completing the competition, but taking the win to be crowned Australia’s Eventing Champion. Not bad for someone who is just nineteen years old!

Gemma was also selected to represent Australia alongside her father on the Australian Oceania Eventing Championships team at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event in June, with the young rider team coming out on top to take the win.

Gemma describes this win on the lovely mare Annapurna as her proudest equestrian achievement to date. In the future she has her sights set on competing at 4* level here in Australia, before hopefully reaching her long term goal of following in her dad’s footsteps riding for Australia overseas. Seems like it must run in the family!

A very dedicated horsewoman, Gemma ran us through a typical day in her shoes. She heads off to work in the morning, which is followed by busily riding her own horses, schooling client’s horses, then finishing the day off with some teaching. Something she said most people don’t know about her is that she actually works in child care!

She told us about one of her newer rides, a horse she is very excited about named Diablo. Owned by Tim Game, Diablo has recently come over from Germany and just begun competing at prelim/EA95 level with Gemma. Definitely a strong addition to her team and one to watch!

Gemma said her favourite products from Horseland have to be the clothing from Equiline, which she absolutely loves. Gemma’s dog, Leslie the Italian Greyhound can also be seen sporting his coat from WeatherBeeta.

We are very pleased to welcome Gemma on board, look forward to watching her develop further as a rider and supporting her along the way.
