Why do you need to get your saddle fitted? When it comes down to it, saddle fitting is all about the health of your horse and the performance of you both as a single functional unit. Top performance only comes from your horse being fit and the two of you operating as a team. As the saddle is the major interface between horse and rider, the fact that proper saddle fitting is essential is undisputable.
It's what constitutes proper saddle fit that seems to generate the most debate and confusion - quite simply this should not be so. The principles of good saddle fitting are straightforward and above all logical.
It's all about Position, Angle, Balance and Weight Distribution.
There is no need for saddle fitting to be about opinions or theories. The Accredited Saddle Fitters of Australasia (ASFA) teach these principles to their members and stand by them as ‘the standard' in saddle fitting.
