Keep reading if you too want to learn how to easily take care of your leather gear so it can last a lifetime.

1. CLEAN your leather

Start by brushing down your leather with a soft cloth or damp towel to remove any loose dirt, hair, or dust from the surface, then reach for Oakwood’s Liquid Saddle Soap. This soap is a specially formulated concentrated deep cleaner that gently and effectively removes dirt, grime, stains, and grease from saddles, harness gear, boots, and tack accessories. It also has the added benefit of hydrating your leather as it cleans and will prevent your leather from permanently darkening.

2.CONDITION your leather

Now it’s time to reach for Oakwood’s famous leather conditioner. It’s made in Australia from only the best natural nourishing waxes and oils including lanolin, beeswax, emu oil and eucalyptus oil, that when combined have the benefit of providing an intense rehydration of leather.

Start by applying the Oakwood Leather Conditioner onto a soft, clean cloth or applicator pad and work over the leather, leaving it to penetrate the leather for 5-10 minutes. Then use a clean cloth to wipe off any excess and buff the surface of the leather. It will leave your gear looking as good as new!

3. MAINTAIN your leather

The key to making your leather saddlery and riding gear last a long time is to clean and condition at least once a month. However, it’s also important you maintain your leather in between deep cleaning cycles. Thankfully, the Oakwood Leather & Synthetic Wipes are a quick and convenient way to do just that.

Simply remove a wipe from the pack, move it over the leather surface, and once finished, dispose of the wipe into a waste bin. The extra-large 300x200mm wipes gently remove dust, dirt, and grime from the surface of leather and synthetic goods. They contain a natural ingredient known as Carnauba Wax, which has the benefit of conditioning, protecting, and buffing leather surfaces to a radiant shine, whilst also assisting in improving the resilience of leather and vinyl surfaces.

Taking care of your expensive leather saddlery and riding gear is as simple as cleaning, conditioning, and maintaining often. Shop Oakwood products at your local Horseland store or online.
