Everyday Essentials for Summer
Being based in NSW, we often have very warm summers! My summer essentials for the horses to wear in the paddock include the Kool Coat Lite Airstream Lite Combo and the WeatherBeeta ComFiTec Double Dart Deluxe Fly Mask and we can’t go without Ultrashield fly and insect repellent. The Kool Coat Lite Airstream Combo Neck is exceptionally well valued, featuring a lightweight polyester outer with mesh panelling and up to 90% UV protection. The WeatherBeeta ComFiTec Double Dart Deluxe Fly Mask is an essential for our horses in summer, especially the ones with a white nose. We love this classic style and double darts that stay up off the eyes. Ultrashield is on the list purely because with summer comes flies, and Ultrashield is the best fly spray to put on before riding and for the paddock. It’s a fabulous non-greasy spray so the horses can sweat through the spray and it works!
Stable Essentials
When it comes to our essentials in the stables, we can’t go past simple but great Roma Neoprene Brushing Boots for the front and back legs. They never slip and never rub! They also feature tough PVC strike pads for extra protection against knocks and brushing with adjustable touch tape closures.
Competition Essentials
As we prepare for a huge year full of competitions, I always have a couple of essentials that have to be packed! Firstly our favourite competition summer sheet, the Weatherbeeta Summer Sheet Lite Combo II with a matching WeatherBeeta Lite Tail Bag. This is a fantastic rug to keep your horse cool being made from 60% cotton content and has over 90% UV Protection.
Dab always wears this after a wash to keep his plaits looking perfect.
Next, we must have the WeatherBeeta Protec Event Boots to keep Dab’s legs protected out on course. Funnily enough, these are the cross country boots I have used on all my horses since I started riding! They sport a high-quality neoprene that uniquely contours to the horse’s leg to provide maximum support and comfort. They provide a high level of protection against blows and impacts and are lightweight and secure.
In order to keep me safe out on course, I choose the Racesafe Provent 3.0 Body Protector. This lightweight, flexible and breathable protection is fantastic out on course, giving me a huge range of freedom and has BETA 2009 Level 3 protection.
One thing I certainly can’t live without is the Ultimate Eventing Watch which I have in blue of course! This is an essential out on course, helping me to achieve the perfect time and is available in a huge range of colours.
