How did your love of the horse begin?
I rode Blackie at Miss Catchpole’s Riding School in West Mersea, an island off the coast of Essex. “Catchy” was a wonderful teacher and taught my mother, brother and sister as well. My brother was the only one who didn’t fall in love with it and went sailing instead.
What are your competition achievements highlights?
I still remember my first competition which was on Blackie at Witham Show. We had a big win in the riding class because I could do rising trot. I think I was about four, I was probably on a leading rein and there were at least three kids in the class. Oh the excitement! I was hooked. Since then I rode at the Stockholm WEG on Stirling Wilton and qualified for four World Cup Finals on four different horses and rode at two. Was reserve for Beijing and London Olympics and rode at European Championships.
What are your goals?
My current goal is to take Nemo to Grand Prix and help my students do the same. I need to up my scores.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your team.
We have an ambitious and committed team at the moment. They keep us on our toes and inspired. I think my role is to keep things on an even keel. Well, try at least.
