How did your love of the horse begin?

With my father, Brian Tinney, he was a stock and station agent, so cows and horses were introduced to me at a very young age.. I chose horses!

What are your competition achievements highlights?

My all-time favourite, would have to be of course winning GOLD at the Sydney Olympics home ground, coming first in teams and first overall (however no medals this Olympics as they ran a separate competition, which they now combine) on ‘Jeepster’ an amazing TB. Plus, team BRONZE in Rio de Janeiro Olympics on John and Jane Pittard’s ‘Pluto Mio’. I have also been privileged to win The 5* Australian 3DE in Adelaide on Tim Games ‘Panamera’. Plus, on Pete O’Connell’s and Kathy Wards ‘Vettori’.

What are your goals?

My goals now have relaxed somewhat due to spending over 3 decades as an Elite Rider. However, if a Championship falls in my lap I won’t say "NO"!! I have some super horses and am enjoying them and their progression.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your team.

I have a solid team, which consists of mainly family. Karen my wife has been instrumental to all our successes. We have a good working relationship and want the same things with our horses and life, which is rare!! Gemma and Jaymee my daughters are an incredible support to the team in every way. Gemma riding herself at a high level we support each other. We have had some wonderful grooms too which also make the days run smoothly.

What are your favourite products from Horseland you use, and why?

Four products that we could not do without, our favourites: PRO TEC Event boots- Easy, light, NO RUBBING OR SLIPPING - just perfect for any size horse, WeatherBeeta Rugs: Heavy, Mediums, Lights and Cottons (too many styles to mention)! They are the best quality, durable and do everything they say they do, with so many types for all shapes and sizes. WeatherBeeta Therapy-Tec gel ice boots, a true favourite. Saxon and WeatherBeeta fly masks on every paddock gate! You can always find Dublin apparel in our Equestrian drawer! Breeches, shirts with long sleeves, short sleeves, and hoodies. Karen loves a good stylish waterproof parka.
